When planning a custom home, most people start with inspiration—saving photos, browsing Pinterest boards, or jotting down ideas from homes they’ve admired. It’s an exciting process, full of possibilities. But too often, homeowners assume that the next step is to find someone to "draw up some plans." That’s where things can go sideways.

Testimonials

We had the opportunity to purchase and completely renovate a 30-year-old condo needing a full transformation. Remodeling can often be more challenging than building from scratch due to the constraints of existing infrastructure, and our project was no exception. To bring our vision to life, we partnered with Lonetree Construction, giving them a six-month timeline to handle every stage—from design and budgeting to demolition and the complete reconstruction of 2,700 square feet within a multi-residential building, which presented its own logistical challenges.

Lonetree exceeded our expectations, delivering the project on time and even slightly under budget. Their process was seamless and professional, ensuring we remained involved in the decisions throughout the renovation. We worked directly with the owners, who managed the subcontractors—each of whom was highly skilled and knowledgeable. The experience was smooth, well-coordinated, and resulted in our new beautiful space.

About Us

Lonetree Construction is a general construction company founded in 2023.
Tyler and Michael met while attending college at NDSU. As close friends and both working in construction in different capacities, they began discussing forming a general construction company after they both realized the building process could be improved significantly. The two began brainstorming how they can improve the experience and streamline the process for homeowners, and that's how Lonetree Construction was founded.

We know that building a home can be stressful and emotional, which is why we decided to take a step back and approach construction by living in the details. We've learned from others' mistakes and found a path that can be positive for everyone. We strive to enable transparent decision making. Our base is built in communication. You, the homeowner, determine the direction of a project and we ensure it is successful. With every detail well thought out, the process we implement, and the communication we require… we're ready to build your dream house. Whether this is your first home or your forever home, Lonetree is here for all of your building needs.

Since high school, Tyler has been involved in construction in various aspects, but mainly through the lens of lumberyards. Starting out in the yard, then transitioning to building material sales. The construction industry starts and stops with material selections and applications, which has garnered Tyler with immense experience in what works and doesn't work. As a starting point Tyler is able to, very quickly, direct and help clients find their way in selecting materials through the array of options on the market today. Material choices that fit the budget and turn a vision into a reality. His attention to detail and coordinating materials into the design of the project up front guarantees better results and better chances for success in the eyes of the client when it's time to move in.

While attending college, Michael joined the North Dakota Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2009. Michael started his working career in a lumber yard then after college took a job back in Bismarck working in the heavy industrial construction sector- specifically, the oil and gas industry. With over 12 years' experience, Michael has learned how critical it is to provide clients with detailed and accurate proposals. While working with a large team, Michael learned the importance of communication, being detailed, and delivering projects with a high level of quality. Michael is an excellent problem solver and understands that getting things done while not letting them linger drives the project's success. Being transparent with customers is the key to success. Michael built his own home in 2020 and it was clear that this type of construction was his passion.
